Chennai school teacher arrested for sexually harassing students under POCSO Act

A 45-year-old school teacher in the city was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting students for over four months. Police gave this information.

Police said the man sent obscene messages to students, touched them inappropriately and sexually assaulted the children.

Following a tip-off, officials of the District Child Protection Unit conducted inquiries at the school and lodged a complaint with the all-women police station in the city, a police release said.

Police officers interrogated and investigation revealed that the teacher had sexually assaulted the students since March. He also used to send obscene messages to her on the phone.

A case was registered against the teacher under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and he was arrested.
