CBSE and IIT-Gandhinagar to launch 30-30 Eklavya series to decode implementation of NEP

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Center for Creative Learning (CCL) at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) have joined hands to launch 30-30 Eklavya, an online interactive education program designed to decode the effective implementation of national Is for. Education Policy in Schools (NEP).

Eklavya Series intends to take forward the vision of NEP, which emphasizes on holistic, experiential and multi-disciplinary learning rather than rote learning. The weekly series aims at learning creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, conceptual understanding, interdisciplinary learning, problem-solving skills and way of learning among school students.

Each live episode will cover the course with interesting real-world examples and stories. For example, the first episode will talk about Newton’s laws of motion, explaining why Neeraj Chopra fired the spear at 36 degrees and why the Paris gun fired the cannonball at 55 degrees, even though the textbook says that the projectile Goes furthest at 45 degrees.

The episode will be a combination of Science and Maths concepts. An episode about forces will explain the forces that act on a drop of water coming out of a sprinkler and whether it goes in a spiral or a parabolic path. Another episode will discuss finding pi in straight lines and how you can find this miraculous number in leaves on the sidewalk.

The series will also cover other topics like electricity and magnetism, sound, number system and basic arithmetic operations, heat, evolution and cell biology, machines and friction, optics, pressure etc.

The Eklavya series will also include practical activities, projects, models that help in conceptual understanding of difficult topics, PISA-based thought provoking questions, assignments that promote out-of-box creative thinking and using local materials DIY project video course to connect to life.

Gaurav Kumar Yadav, Co-Founder, CCL, IITGN, said, “The content will be of varying levels and will include topics from the syllabus of Science and Mathematics for classes 6-12. Therefore, students in these grades should take advantage of this opportunity to register and participate for conceptual clarity and joyful learning. This will not only help in the exams, but will also prepare the students to develop a scientific outlook, navigate their lives better and take informed decisions.”

The 30-30 Eklavya series is scheduled to begin on September 26, 2021 and will run every Sunday from 4 pm to 5 pm. youtube channel of ccl. Students, teachers and STEM enthusiasts of all age groups can participate for free by registering on the program’s website, ccl.iitgn.ac.in/eklavya. For teachers, successful completion of syllabus and submission of homework will be considered equivalent to 30 hours teacher training/capacity building program by CBSE.
