Case registered against ‘BJP’ leader for assaulting Noida woman; SP, Congress, AAP slam saffron party – Bharat Times Hindi News

A politician in Uttar Pradesh has been booked by the Noida Police on Friday for allegedly assaulting a woman inside a housing society after she thrashed her. While the politician insisted that he is a member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha and photographs of him with senior leaders surfaced on social media, the local unit of the party said he was not associated with them.

Controversy erupted during the day at the Grand Omaxe Society in Sector-93B here, when the woman objected to Srikant Tyagi planting some trees, citing violation of norms, while claiming that he was within his rights to do so.

Several videos from the episode surfaced on social media, one of which purportedly shows Tyagi using abusive words and assaulting the woman. She also used abusive words for her husband and made derogatory remarks about him. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women’s Security) “Srikant Tyagi booked under section 354 (assault or use of criminal force on any woman, with intent to outrage or is likely to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code Has been done.” ) Ankita Sharma told PTI.

“Charges may be added after proper investigation of the matter,” the IPS officer said. Tyagi identified himself on social media as a national executive member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha and national coordinator of the ruling party’s Yuva Kisan Samiti.

According to officials, a local police team was sent to the housing society in the evening but Tyagi did not open the doors of his house. “He was threatening to take down his pet dogs at the police officers, who were preventing his arrest. The police team was waiting outside his house,” another officer told PTI.

Additional DCP Sharma said on Friday night that Tyagi is absconding and police teams are looking for him. Meanwhile, BJP’s Noida unit chief Manoj Gupta said that Tyagi is not associated with the party. “He had joined the party about four-five years ago along with Swami Prasad Maurya, who has now left the BJP. Tyagi was his disciple and was not a member of the BJP.

He said that the BJP stands in support of the residents and common people of the society in the particular case, they also want action against Tyagi.

SP, AAP Slam BJP

Meanwhile, following the developments, the Samajwadi Party pulled up the ruling party over the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, while the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party demanded strict action against them.

“Yogiraj-BJP Govt 2.0. A woman was publicly abused and threatened with death by BJP leader Shrikant Tyagi. This is just one example of the atrocities being committed on the public by drunken BJP workers in Yogiraj. BJP leaders are also committing murders in Yogiraj!” the Samajwadi Party tweeted in Hindi.

Former Noida MLA candidate of Congress Pankhuri Pathak said that this is not the first time that such behavior of BJP leaders against common people has come to the fore in the city. Urging the police and officials to take strict action against Tyagi, Pathak said, “If such hooliganism and misbehavior can happen to a woman inside a residential society, then it is clear that people are not safe in Noida today. ” Aam Aadmi Party’s local leader Bhupendra Jadaun also demanded strict action against Tyagi over the incident.
