Bucks’ Patrick Beverley discusses his violent pass into stands: ‘Should have never happened’

Coaches and other players came forward in an attempt to defuse the situation, but Beverley appeared to continue exchanging words with fans sitting behind him.

Less than a week later, Beverly says it was an “unfortunate situation that should never have happened.”

Beverly said, “What I did was bad and it should never have happened. I have to be better and I will be better. And it should never have happened.” on his podcast, “No matter what was said, this should never have happened. It’s that simple.”

Initial reports said it came after a fan said “Cancun on three”, but Beverly says it was “even more than that” and she was called a name that is clearly NSFW.

“I’ve been called a lot of things in this league, I just haven’t been called that way,” he said. “Still unforgivable. It doesn’t matter what was said. I have to be better, and I will be better.”

Beverley said security approached him at the beginning of the game and asked if he wanted some fans to be ejected, but he declined, saying he didn’t really want fans to be ejected. Be thrown out for talking nonsense.

Beverley said, “I’m not kicking any fans out. The people who spend money to see us play. I’m not kicking them out.”

However, this certain fan “crossed the line.”

“We’re at the layup line. I’m on the bench with the ball. The fan to my right says something crazy. I go over to him, ‘Hey, man, you can scold me but don’t call me that.’ I shake (Pacers coach) Rick Carlisle’s hand, the fan says something crazy to me, I’m like, man, you can say anything, just don’t be disrespectful, he even apologized to everyone to some extent. Crazy, they all apologized, it’s just that some people crossed a little line.”
