SAN ANTONIO, United States: Brittany Griner returned to the United States early Friday after nearly 10 months in detention for the basketball star in Russia, which made her the most high-profile US prison incarceration abroad and sparked a political whirlwind.
Griner’s status and prominence in women’s basketball and her imprisonment increased concerns for her and brought tremendous attention to the case. His arrest was followed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to further complicate matters.
