Britney Spears issues cease and desist letter to sister Jamie Lynn amid new book promo tour

Britney Spears has sent a cease-and-desist letter to her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, ordering her to stop talking about him.

The “Toxic” hitmaker’s legal team wants the “Zoey 101” actress to stop discussing the 40-year-old pop star’s life and struggle while she is interviewing to promote her new memoir.

Jamie Lynn is currently on a promotional tour for her new book ‘Things I Should Have Said’, which Brittany’s legal counsel says contains ‘misleading and outrageous claims’ about her.

Now, lawyer Matthew Rosengart has written a stinging letter to Jamie Lynn, demanding that she stop ‘referring to Britney abusively’ and threatening ‘all appropriate legal action’ that the actress should not follow .

The letter reads, ‘We write with some hesitation because the last thing Britney wants is to pay more attention to your poorly timed book and her misleading or outrageous claims about it.

‘Although Britney has not read and does not intend to read your book, she and her millions of fans were shocked to see how you exploited her for monetary gain. She will not tolerate it and neither should she.

After years under the care of her father, Jamie Spears, Rosengart insisted that Britney would no longer be ‘bullyed’ by anyone.

The letter continued: ‘All you guys know is that after initially growing up with a ‘doomed’ alcoholic father, Britney was subjected to abuse and wrongdoing during the stereotype.

‘ In fact, your own book reportedly states that your father ‘spent most of my life in a cycle of that destructive behavior. I was pained and hurt many times because of his drinking.’

‘As I’ve said before, after enduring a 13-year stereotype that stripped her of civil rights and fundamental liberties, Brittany will no longer be bullied by her father or anyone else.’

Jamie Lynn was accused of ‘disseminating false or fictitious complaints’ to promote her book and warned that her sister would take further legal action if she continued to speak about her and their feud.

The letter, previously obtained by Page Six, concluded: ‘Britney was the family breadwinner and she supported you otherwise. It is wrong to publicly broadcast false or fictitious complaints, especially when the books are designed to be sold. It is also potentially illegal and defamatory.

‘ Michelle Obama famously said, ‘When they go down, we go high.’ And to Britney’s great credit, Britney has been doing exactly that for a while now.

‘ You reportedly said recently that the book was ‘not about him’. She takes you at your word and therefore, we demand that you stop and stop abusively referring to Britney during your promotional campaign.

‘If you fail to do so or defame her, Brittany will be compelled to consider and take all appropriate legal action.’

News of the letter came a day after Britney attacked her sister and mother in a wild Instagram post in which she said she should have ‘slapped your face’ members of her family.

In a since-deleted post, the 40-year-old singer-songwriter seemed to be aiming for her 30-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears for a cushy parenting and a starring role on TV when she was just a child.

She also lashed out at her mother, Lynn Spears, for not helping her after her breakup with Justin Timberlake.

Sources close to Jamie Lynn told TMZ that she was ‘upset’ and ‘disturbed’ by the Instagram video, claiming that Jamie Lynn believes Britney is ‘extremely jealous’ over her childhood.

Jamie Lynn is said to receive death threats “every time Britney posts” according to the source, and has told her to stop to no avail.

Brittany has publicly feuded with her sister Jamie Lynn in recent weeks, even for referring to her sister as a ‘scum person’ following her claims of Britney possessing a knife .

But Jamie Lynn responded in kind, asking Britney to talk “privately” about her grievances and “to stop continuing the narrative that I haven’t been there for you or that I am making things up.” ‘

The “Call Her Daddy” podcast interview with Jamie Lynn about her memoir and Britney’s claims was due to be released today, but it’s unclear whether the podcast will be published in light of the new legal warnings.
