Negotiations on the granting of fishing licenses continue today (Monday) between the European Commission, France and UK.
We have seen the first signs of accelerating discussions with the British authorities and expect a response to the latest French proposals by Wednesday.
I have also spoken to David Frost, the UK Minister responsible for relations with the European Union. I have invited him to Paris on Thursday for an in-depth discussion about the problems in implementing the EU-UK agreements.
In order to facilitate open discussion, the measures announced and drawn up by France will not be placed before this meeting and before the consideration of British responses to the issue of fishing licences.
