Brendan Rodgers provides update on Leicester transfer plans

leicester city boss Brendan Rodgers Insists that all his players know where they stand ahead of transfer deadline day.

The window closes on Tuesday with Ayoze Perez, Caglar Soyuncu and Jannik Vestergaard linked with moves away.

The Foxes have signed Viktor Christiansen from FC Copenhagen for £17m this window, while Rodgers continues to hunt for new signings.

“There will be adjustments in the team but from the summer everyone is clear what their position is,” he added.

“If a senior player has to miss out (on the 25-man Premier League squad), he will know that will be the case or he will know he needs to play football elsewhere.

“We have to do what is best for the club and the team. We don’t need to let anyone out, the club is working very hard to bring in the right type of player that we need.

“We can bring one player, no problem, but you have to bring the right type of player.”

The Foxes travel to Walsall in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday having beaten Gillingham 1-0 earlier this month.

Dennis Prett is available after an ankle problem in the 2-2 draw against Brighton, while James Maddison is expected to be in the squad and full-back Christiansen could make his debut.

But Rodgers is wary of the League Two Saddlers who have lost just twice in the division since September.

He said, “You have to do the dirty things well in the game, you’re not just going to go in thinking you’re a Premier League player and the other team will turn up.”

“Walsall have lost once in 13 games, they are at home, it’s a tight little stadium and they are a team that would like to get a scalp.

“You have to work, win the first, second and third balls and then play your football.

“For any team against a team from a higher division it creates that anticipation and excitement. We will prepare as if it is a Premier League game, we will have to work hard and if we can do that it will give us a big chance to win.
