18 min: Chilwell is out of position and Brandt charges down the left flank. The Chelsea left-back recovers well, and does well to beat the German when he goes in to shoot.

17 min: Disallowed! Haller accepts a free-kick and James shoots the ball past Silva. Chelsea think they are ahead but the goal does not stand as replays show that Silva used his hand. No goal and a yellow card for the centre-back.

13min: The corner is bad and Coulibaly goes clear and Chelsea break down Felix. Havertz tries to find Ziyech at the back post but it is deflected into the back of the second corner.

12 min: Coulibaly is called off to block Adeyemi as he enters the box and Dortmund now have a corner. It is cleared twice before firing the can in one attempt from the side of the box which is cleared for the other corner.

11 min: Felix and Mudrić again try to combine down the left and Wolff deflects the ball in for Chelsea’s first corner. The Portuguese forward delivers but Schlotterbeck clears.

9 min: Yellow card. Reece James goes back after just nine minutes after a late challenge on Adeyemi.

8 min: Mudrik has been a real livewire in these opening few minutes and the winger creates space again but he attempts a cross but is cleared away by the Dortmund defence.

5 min: The game has calmed down after that frenetic encounter but Chelsea look happy to sit back in these early stages and use their pace on the break.

2 minutes: It’s a frantic start to the encounter. Dortmund start on the front foot and the Chelsea defense is forced to fend off a few attempts. The English side then broke through with Felix attempting to slide through Mudrik but centre-back Schloterbeck came back brilliantly on cover to deny the Ukranian.
