Blinken lands in Cairo for start of Mideast visit

Washington: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Egypt on Sunday on his fourth visit to the region where he is expected to use US influence to ease Israeli-Palestinian tensions after violence flared up.
Blinken, who will travel to Jerusalem and Ramallah on Monday and Tuesday, had long planned the trip to see Israel’s new right-wing government, but the trip takes on a new urgency after the worst violence in years.
