BJP councilor writes letter to Amit Shah, accusing Chandigarh administration

BJP Councilor Kuljit Singh Sandhu has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleging misbehavior with the officials of Chandigarh Administration and repeated neglect by the officials of the administration.

In the letter, he said, “It is disheartening to bring to your notice that the UT consultants are not cooperating with the local BJP councilor while taking decisions on the issues of ward no. 14, Dhanas. It doesn’t inform about the tour… This leads to poor coordination between the councilor and the administration, and also leads to anti-people decisions. It damages the image of our party (BJP).”

He alleged that there is a proposal to build a 50-bed hospital in his ward, for which Dharam Pal, Advisor to the Union Territory, did not consult him.

“No one knows where the hospital is being proposed to be constructed. The consultant does not have knowledge of the area but has to decide on such an important issue alone. Due to their attitude wrong decisions are being taken and burden is being placed on the exchequer. Not all administration officials are bothering to join our mail/tweet on many important issues. The problems raised hang in the air, but the officials continue to take decisions,” alleged Sandhu.

Sandhu also asked why an elected representative accountable to the people was being neglected. “A bundle of people’s complaints remain unanswered. The consultants/officers do not respond to our problems despite repeated requests and reminders. If we raise our problems directly with the administration then that too gets thrown out without any action and thus all the small and petty issues of the people are ignored for a long time. Thus these officers are creating problem in our entire public friendly program…. It is the need of the hour that these officers are advised to approach the councilor to expedite the work.

Advisor says he ‘coordinates with everyone’

Responding to the allegations, Pal said, “I have always maintained the best coordination with everyone. Rather, I keep meeting all the councilors as well. Tomorrow also I have a meeting with the councilors. I am in touch with all of them.”
