BJP core committee reviews the results of the leaders who left the party

Punjab core committee meeting BJP On Saturday, several leaders of the party joined the Shiromani Akali Dal and discussed the consequences of joining.

In a meeting chaired by state unit president Ashwini Sharma, senior BJP leaders discussed the steps needed to stop the migration of party functionaries to other parties. Former BJP minister Anil Joshi, who was expelled from the party for six years, joined the SAD and several other leaders in a blow to the saffron party.

The meeting passed a resolution condemning the demolition of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s statue in Lahore earlier this week.

Another resolution was passed demanding a safe passage to India for all Hindus and Sikhs living in Afghanistan, where the Taliban has taken control of the country.

A statement issued by the BJP said that the 2022 assembly elections were discussed during the meeting and suggestions were sought from the core committee members on the way forward.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sharma reiterated the statement that the BJP would contest all 117 seats in Punjab and promised a corruption-free government if the BJP comes to power.

He said the party would soon launch a campaign across Punjab to spread its message about the prosperity of the state. He promised 24-hour uninterrupted power supply and doubling of farmers’ income in the state.

Attacking Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sharma said: “Sidhu and Sunil Jakhar had pointed fingers at corruption within the government and also indicated the names of some ministers. Now that Sidhu is the Congress President, have these issues disappeared? Why does he speak about them now,” he questioned.

State BJP President said that Sidhu is promising electricity at the rate of Rs 3 per unit if Congress comes to power. “The Congress is still in power in the state. Why doesn’t he get this rate implemented now? Captain Amarinder Singh had promised to provide electricity to industries at the rate of Rs 5 per unit, but did not fulfill it. This is the reason why industries in Punjab are shutting down and moving to other states,” he said.

Among those who attended Saturday’s meeting were Dayal Singh Sodhi, Dinesh Sharma, Madan Mohan Mittal, Tikshan Sud, Arun Narang and Rajinder Bhandari.
