Two Birmingham police officers are being recognized for their genuinely heroic actions during the deadly flooding in central Alabama on Wednesday night. Officers Evans and Burnett pulled over 15th Avenue North and 28th Street in Norwood on Wednesday night to find one, according to a post by the Birmingham PD. The car was completely submerged in the flood waters. Without hesitation, the officers descended into the water to see if anyone was inside the car. Soon after, the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to a water rescue call at the exact location and saw both officers swimming away from the car with a woman. Who was about 80 years old. Once the officers took her to dry land, the BFRS staff realized that she had no pulse and was not breathing. The fire brigade immediately gave CPR and after about two rounds, the woman started coughing. After a long time his pulse got better.
