Biopic on Padma Shri award winner Sitara Devi’s 101st birth anniversary flagged off – Bharat Times Hindi News

Sitara Devi is one of the iconic artists of India. Recipient of several awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Padma Shri and Kalidas Samman, she revived the Indian classical dance form of Kathak and gave it a new dimension.

On the 101st birth anniversary of the great dancer, his biopic has now been confirmed. Raj C Anand, Producer of Raj Anand Movies said in an announcement, “We are extremely happy and excited to bring the story of Sitara Devi to life on the big screen. We are confident that her story will make for a compelling watch and we believe that this Will ensure that the film should be as engaging as it used to be in real life.”

Renowned musician and drummer Ranjit Barot, who is Sitara Devi’s son, has taken up the responsibility of guiding the research team of the project with deep insights based on his mother’s life that will make up the story.

Talking about the project, Ranjeet said, “I am excited that a film is going to be made on my mother’s life. When Raj Anand (producer) came to me with the idea of ​​making a film on him, I realized it was coming from a very real place of excitement and admiration for my mother, who was an iconic artist. We intend to bring the untold story of his life on screen through this endeavor.”

The pre-production research work on the life of the famous artist has already started, the makers will announce the cast and director soon. Born on 8th November 1920, Sitara Devi was not only an eminent artist but also a strong woman who solidified the ideology of feminism and womanhood by living life on her own terms.
