Billy Bob Thornton and ‘Goliath’ cast on series ending

“I loved playing a character that’s very similar to me,” Thornton told CNN in a recent interview. “I just rolled out of bed everyday and went out and acted like I was a lawyer in L.A.”

The Amazon Prime series about a down-and-out attorney and his quest for redemption is in its fourth and final season. McBride and friends are taking “Big Pharma,” which Thornton said felt right.

“Billy isn’t the type, I’m not the type who likes the idea of big corporations telling us how we should live our lives,” he said. “I’m really happy that was the final season because I think the development worked out perfectly.”

Nina Arianda, who plays McBride’s close friend and collaborator, Patti Solis-Papagian, told CNN that the ending of the series was “bittersweet.” She said she hopes audiences will “enjoy the conclusion.”

“I hope we bring a real sense of justice, especially to the topic that we are dealing with this season, which is the opioid crisis in America,” she said. “All you want is a communal hug with all the people who have been with you for four seasons.”

Tania Raymonde, who plays sex worker and McBride’s assistant Brittany Gould, said, “We’ve been living in the skin of these tangled, dysfunctional people for so long… it’s like a sad goodbye.”

“But I’m very proud of the show, for sure,” Raymonde said. “And I also think this past season is great, it’s a good way to end it if it’s to end.”

Thornton is also proud of the work done by the cast and is pleased with how audiences have embraced the show.

If it sounds simple, there’s a reason for it.

“It was a real pleasure to be able to play someone you really understood,” Thornton said.
