Bills’ Stefon Diggs on Damar Hamlin’s positive trajectory after cardiac arrest: ‘It’s inspiring’

Buffalo Bills Star Stephen Diggs Thousands of people were emotional and distraught when Damon Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during a regular season game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

There were moments when it got a little hairy for Hamlin. His heart was restored on the field at Pecor Stadium and he was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where doctors worked on him for several days. Miraculously, Hamlin regained consciousness within a few days, began talking and walking around.

On Wednesday, NFL Players Association medical director Thom Meyer Said Hamlin would be able to play football again.

Meyer said on SiriusXM Radio, “I don’t want to get into HIPAA issues, but I guarantee you that Damar Hamlin will play professional football again.”

Diggs spoke to Fox News Digital on Thursday and called Hamlin’s recovery “very uplifting.”

“It’s inspirational. And it makes you believe again. We live in a real world but sometimes football is such an entertainment business that you lose sight of it, that’s life,” said the star wide receiver. “People are giving it their all and things can happen out there.

“So it puts you in a different mind frame and makes you appreciate it more — appreciate the love of the game, appreciate life. It makes you feel like, damn if this guy can do it, someone Might as well. To see him fight back and see that all the prayers were answered, he had so many people praying for him.”

Diggs capped off the 2022 season with a Pro Bowl appearance last week. He had 108 catches for 1,429 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns.

The now two-time Pro Bowler enjoyed the new format that included a series of games, including 7-on-7 flag football contests.

He said, “I always have a good time at the Pro Bowl, considering I’m going a second time.” “I had my first COVID so we really couldn’t do much. But I’ll always be in attendance. I’m having a great time, great people, being around family, being around our fans.

“They changed it up and they did it the right way. It’s still a competition. And with the flag football game, it’s still competitive, but without worrying too much about getting hurt or hitting someone. Can play tough too. It was still physical but it was good to see for the fans and it’s something the league should continue to do.”

Diggs has to play against his brother, dallas cowboys defensive back Trevon Diggs, and threw an interception for him in a flag football game.

“I can’t associate it with any other emotion – it’s a blessing,” he told Fox News Digital about playing against his brother. “My mom’s womb, she’s obviously making some good stuff out of it. So a lot of credit to her. Being with my brother is like someone you grew up with and you always play with. It’s fun at first and It was game and now it’s fun and game again.”

While Diggs would not play in the Super Bowl, he was still participating in the festivities. They partnered with Fast Twitch, a new energy drink from Gatorade. He took part in Fast Twitch’s immersive tunnel experience. Diggs said he loved it when he went inside and found a huge mural of himself.

He is among the NFL players who recently partnered with Fast Twitch and being with Gatorade as a whole was a dream come true for him.

“It’s really something I looked forward to all these years during my career,” he said. “We grew up drinking Gatorade. It was an everyday thing. So I felt like it was a great cedar for me and something I’ve always wanted.”
