India’s leading T20 fast bowler Harshal Patel will miss the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to a side strain. Harshal is part of the Indian team for the ongoing five-match T20I series against the West Indies. However, he has not played a single match in the series. A rib injury had left India’s right arm out of selection. This also means that the Indian team management may replace Arshdeep Singh. Both bowlers offer similar skills.
As per reports, Harshal Patel is set to be ruled out of the Asia Cup and is also a doubtful one for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.#hershalpatel #AsiaCup2022 #T20World Cup #crickettwitter #teamindia pic.twitter.com/EySBKAs9fK

India is set to announce the squad for the Asia Cup 2022 on Monday, 8 August. Harshal’s side strain injury has also put him in danger for the T20 World Cup. The injury needs four to six weeks of rest and rehab. Harshal will join NCA for rehab. Harshal has not played a match since 10 July when he played a match against England in Nottingham. The right-arm fast bowler has played 17 T20 matches for Team India. Deepak Chahar is also another option in place of Harshal. Deepak is set to return to India after recovering from a hamstring injury. He has been out of the team since February. He will play in the three-match ODI series in August.
