Bhupinder Singh Hooda demands withdrawal of FIR on farmers, compensation to the families of the victims

The opposition and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in the Haryana Assembly on Friday welcomed the Centre’s decision to repeal three controversial agriculture laws and termed it as a victory for the farmers’ long struggle and satyagraha. Later in the evening, Hooda traveled to the Palwal toll plaza, where he personally greeted the protesting farmers. “The government should now also discuss the remaining issues of the farmer. At the same time, he should plan to make agriculture profitable for the farmers. The government should make such policies which reduce the loss of farmers and benefit them.

Regarding the FIRs lodged against the farmers, Hooda said, “All cases registered against farmers during the movement should be withdrawn. The Haryana government should also now come forward to help the families of the farmers who lost their lives during the agitation, just as the Congress government in Punjab has given financial assistance and government jobs to the families of the victims. We, on behalf of the Congress Legislature Party, have given financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of farmers killed during the protests and have repeatedly appealed to the government to provide financial help.

Contacted, Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant ChautalaHe said that he would approach the central government to withdraw the FIRs lodged against farmers in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

‘Repealing of laws should be seen as gift of PM’
