‘Befitting a Superhero’ Procession Planned for Danny Sheehan in Marshfield

Marshfield (CBS) – A procession is planned for the honor Danny Sheehan Marshfield’s who died after a battle with cancer. Police are asking residents to line the streets, yards and sidewalks of Marshfield this Wednesday at 7 p.m. to bid a final farewell to Danny, who was named an honorary officer.

The eight-year-old became an internet sensation last year when he opened a gift for spotting Aquaman action figure. He cried with joy.

It was so pure and heartfelt that it inspired the Aquaman actor, Jason MomoaTo contact Danny. Momoa said, “Love you, baby boy. Rest in peace. You will be in my heart. I dedicate Aquaman 2 to you.”

Danny died on Sunday in the arms of his parents. “We will be visiting again soon,” her parents said in a statement. “My best friend. My sweet special good boy. Mom and dad love you so much.”

Danny’s spirit took hold at the Marshfield Boys & Girls Club, where a mural was painted on one wall for all to see. Jim Bunnell of the Boys & Girls Club said, “The courage he gave, not only as a staff or a club, he is the other kids and their classmates.”

Danny’s passing was deeply felt in the Marshfield Police Department. Several years ago he was named an honorary officer. Police Chief Phil Tavares said, “Just his name brought smiles to people’s faces and what a great young man this is and it’s a huge loss for all of us.”

A procession in honor of Danny will be taken out at 7 pm on Wednesday. “Police, Fire and Officer Sheehan’s family will pick her up from St. Christine’s and meet with more Police and Fire for a superhero procession in the parking lot of Furnace Brook School!” Marshfield Police Said.

“Danny didn’t like it Quiet…..So the sirens would sound, the lights would flash and we hope Marshfield comes out in the colorful outfit that Danny liked and makes as much noise as he did……No doubt that He’ll smile from above!”

The procession will go down Route 139 from Roche Brothers, onto Dyke Road and Careswell, then onto Webster and back to Route 139 ending at McDonald’s Funeral Home.
