BBMB: Haryana CM Khattar said, will talk to PM Modi

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that he has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the recent changes in the rules for selection of members of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and will take up the issue with the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi Very.

“I have written a letter to the Union Home Minister. We have an objection to it and Punjab also has an objection to it. Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh have some role in this and they want members from their states. Normally, the Chairman (of BBMB) was appointed from Himachal but there was a request (for nomination of member) from Rajasthan. We had given oral consent that if you (Centre) feel that Rajasthan is being inconvenienced, then appoint three members instead of the existing two. We have no objection if a member is appointed from Rajasthan also.

Khattar further said: “In BBMB, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal and to a lesser extent Delhi are the stakeholder states. These states should jointly look after its management. We are cautious about this and when I meet, I will also talk to the Prime Minister.

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that while advocating for an all-party meeting on this issue, the state government should take a tough stand on this issue. Khattar said that he would also ask the MPs of the state to take up the issue with the central government.
