Hello and welcome to Basin Reserve in Wellington (via A Couch in South London) for this OBO of Australia vs West Indies. it 14th Match of what is proving to be an exciting 2022 Women’s World Cup. The big question is, will anyone be able to stop the Australian team?
Meg Lanning’s team has outperformed all players in this format for the past few years and has three out of three players in the tournament so far, sitting satisfactorily at the top of the table, while those at the bottom are battling it out .
Stafanie Taylor’s West Indies team has certainly had their moments in this World Cup so far and after watching New Zealand and England closely squeaker™ They went into Saturday’s match with India full of beans. Centuries and a sneaky batting collapse from Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana brought them back with a collision to be well and truly impressed by India. Deandra Dottin’s blistering 46-ball 62 was the only real high point of their reaction and the Windies will need their leading all-rounder to step up against the formidable Aussies today if they are to snatch points and find themselves as real contenders. to be declared in Crown.
Dotin has already dominated the tournament; Runs, finishing of the last over and great diving form the bulk of his performance portfolio so far. Fingers crossed for the same pyrotechnics over the next few hours.
