Attempts to blunt the opposition’s charge of being anti-Brahmin, BJP formed a new panel

After taking feedback from your cadre, BJP A four-member committee has been constituted to prepare the party’s strategy and program with an aim to woo the Brahmin community in the state ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Party sources said the ground reaction suggested that the opposition parties have been successful to an extent in sending out the message that Brahmins in UP are not getting due respect and representation in the Yogi Adityanath government.

Brahmins constitute about 13 percent of the population in Uttar Pradesh.

The committee comprising Rajya Sabha member Shiv Pratap Shukla, former union minister Mahesh Sharma, BJP youth wing leader Abhijat Mishra and Lok Sabha MP from Gujarat, Ram Bhai Mokariya, was constituted on Sunday after Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is also the BJP in-charge for the UP elections, held a meeting of senior party officials in Delhi.

Those who attended the meeting included senior Brahmin leaders of the party, including ministers and MPs from the Adityanath government.

“We will organize the program to clear the misconceptions being spread by the opposition parties that the BJP is neglecting the (Brahmin) community. Outreach programs will be organized to highlight the work done for Brahmins by the BJP and the UP government,” Shiv Pratap Shukla, who will head the four-member committee, informed Indian Express,

On Monday, members of the committee and other Brahmin leaders including UP government ministers – Shrikant Sharma, Brajesh Pathak, Satish Chandra Dwivedi met BJP national president JP Nadda. Brajesh Pathak tweeted after meeting Nadda, “Brahmin Samaj (community) of Uttar Pradesh apprised of the issues and concerns being faced by them, and submitted a memorandum to BJP President JP Nadda and received positive assurances and blessings.”

According to a BJP leader present at the meeting, the party will hold small meetings of 100 to 150 Brahmins across the state.

“The committee will plan and appoint leaders for the meetings. Brahmin ministers, MPs, MLAs and party leaders will address the meetings which will start from the first week of January. ,

Notably, Union Minister of State (Home) Ajay Mishra “Theni”, a two-time MP from Lakhimpur Kheri was not present in the meeting with Nadda.
