Former champions ATK Mohun Bagan on Saturday parted ways with their most successful coach, Antonio López Habas, the first major to roll in the ongoing Indian Super League amid a forgotten outing.

“ATKMB has released Antonio Habas as head coach of ATK Mohun Bagan,” the Mariners said in a release. Manuel Cascalana, who is currently the assistant coach, will be the interim coach.
Known for a balanced outfit in both attack and defence, the team has struggled, especially after the departure of their centre-back Sandesh Jhingan, who has left for Croatian club, Sibenik.
Spain defender Tiri’s injury added to his troubles as he has already scored 13 goals in six matches.
Habas coached the then Atlético de Kolkata to the inaugural title in 2014 by defeating Kerala Blasters in the final.
Under Habas, ATK made it to the last four the following season. Habas returned for his second stint in 2019 and guided them to their second title, becoming the first manager to lift the coveted trophy twice.
