Athawale expresses solidarity with Wankhede, Malik targets him

Union Minister and President of Republican Party of India Ramdas Athawale on Sunday expressed solidarity with the Zonal Director of NCB Sameer Wankhede, which is facing vigilance probe by NCB. Athawale also alleged that state minister Nawab Malik was targeting the NCB officer.

On Sunday, Wankhede’s wife Kranti Redkar and father Dayandev Wankhede met Athawale at his residence. The meeting lasted for 30 minutes. After the meeting, he addressed the media.

Athawale said, “NCP minister Nawab Malik was targeting Sameer Wankhede as he had arrested his son-in-law (Sameer Khan) in a drug related case. It was revenge politics. I have checked all the documents. Sameer Wankhede is a Hindu not a Muslim. He has not used any fake certificate to get the job.

He said, “His father Dayandev Wankhede worked in the excise department. I have also seen their documents. He is a Hindu. She had married a Muslim.”

Kranti Redkar reiterated that Malik’s allegations against his family were “baseless”. When asked by reporters about her husband’s caste, Redkar said her family was fed up with the “oppression”. “My family is fed up with all these things. What do you all have to do with Sameer Wankhede’s personal life?” asked an actress Redkar. “Why are you not asking how many medicines were recovered from Sameer Khan? The matter is in court and I have nothing to say on this or about Aryan Khan. (with PTI inputs)
