At least 5 killed after bus collides with truck in UP

Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), June 24

At least five people were killed and around 12 were injured when a bus and truck collided head-on on the national highway at Unchgaon-Adlispur intersection under Isanagar police station area on Friday afternoon, police said.

According to police, the accident took place when the bus driver while trying to overtake a pickup van collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

Dhaurhara Circle Officer SN Tiwari said that Balachandra Mishra (40), bus conductor Naib Singh (35), passenger Jamal Khan (45) and two unidentified people died in the incident.

Tiwari reached the spot along with SDM Dhirendra Kumar Singh and Isanagar police station in-charge Arvind Kumar Pandey and made arrangements to send the injured to the hospital.

Two of the injured bus passengers were sent to the district hospital, while the others were taken to the Dhaurahra Community Health Centre, police said.
