Arvind Kejriwal hands over Rs 1 crore to kin of IAF employee killed in accident, four others

The family of Rajesh Kumar, an Indian Air Force (IAF) employee who was killed during a training flight in Arunachal Pradesh in 2019, was given a compensation of Rs 1 crore by the Chief Minister of Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal Friday.

“Two years ago, Rajesh Kumar sacrificed his life in the line of duty while serving the nation. We are giving ‘Samman Rashi’ of Rs 1 crore to help his family. Even though this society cannot compensate for their loss in any way, but we hope this small gesture will give them strength. We have helped one of his sisters to get employment in civil defense and the other will also be given a job.

The government on Friday also paid compensation to the families of Delhi Police ACP Sanket Kaushik, Delhi Police constable Vikas Kumar, civil defense volunteer Parvesh Kumar and Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Meet Kumar.

In July 2020, ACP Kaushik was checking vehicles on the service lane near Rajokri when he was hit by a mini truck. Constable Kumar was on picket duty near the Outer Ring Road on September 15, 2016, when he was hit by a speeding car. He was injured and finally died 15 days later.

Civil Defense Volunteer Kumar was also hit by a speeding vehicle in the line of duty in September 2020 and died.

Meanwhile, Squadron Leader Meet Kumar died in July 2018, when he was flying a MiG-21, which crashed during an operational flight in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.

A check of Rs 1 crore will also be handed over to the family of Flight Lieutenant Sunit Mohanty on Sunday. He died in Arunachal Pradesh during an air maintenance mission in 2019.
