APD says fighting near Atlanta fair led to shooting that killed 1 teen, injured 2 others

Atlanta, Ga. (CBS46) – Three teenagers were shot and one of them died in the latest shootings on the streets of Atlanta.

When Atlanta police responded to a report of shootings near Prior and Bass Streets around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, at the scene, officers found a dead teenage male, 16-year-old Joshua Edetunzi, with a gunshot wound. Two other victims, an adult male and a teenage male with non-fatal gunshot wounds, were also located, according to the APD.

Atlanta police say it was a 16-year-old who was killed and the other two injured, aged 14 and 19.

Investigators say it all started with a fight that turned into firing.

“We were able to identify three different crime scenes in this immediate vicinity and officers and detectives have worked diligently trying to process those scenes,” Atlanta Homicide Commander Lieutenant Ralph Woolfolk said.

According to APD crime figures for the week ending February 26, homicides across the city are up more than 30% from the same date last year.
