Amusement parks allowed to reopen in the city from tomorrow, water rides to remain closed

Further relaxing the lockdown norms in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has extended the timings for all shops till 11 pm, while allowing eateries to remain open till midnight, as per the directions of the Maharashtra government. It has allowed all amusement parks to reopen from 22 October
The Maharashtra government on Tuesday issued instructions to relax the timings of shops and eateries in the state. It has also empowered local authorities to implement new norms based on COVID-19 position in their regions.

Under this, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar on Wednesday allowed all the shops in the city to remain open till 11 pm. Restaurants, bars and food courts in the city will remain open till 12 pm.
He said, “Amusement parks and museums… are allowed to reopen from October 22. However, there will be a complete ban on water rides, while other rides will be allowed in open spaces in amusement parks,” he said, adding that the decision would be applicable. Jurisdiction of PMC, Pune Cantonment Board and Kirkee Cantonment Board.

PMC has also emphasized on the need to observe COVID-appropriate behavior in the premises of amusement parks.

“People above 65 years of age, or with comorbidities, pregnant women and children below 10 years are advised to stay at home,” Kumar said. All employees and visitors will have to undergo thermal screening. The premises of amusement parks should be cleaned regularly.

Swimming pools inside such parks will remain closed. CCTV surveillance will be mandatory to avoid crowding.

The PMC had earlier announced that theatres, theatres, multiplexes and auditoriums would open from Friday.
