Almost 300 jobs at risk at Asda and 4,100 staff face pay cut

Asda has revealed a major shake-up of store operations, which will put almost 300 roles at risk and reduce pay for more than 4,000 night workers.

The supermarket chain has proposed that overnight restocking shifts in 184 stores be moved to daytime hours, putting 211 night shift manager roles at risk.

Asda also revealed a 25% cut on 23 in-store opening hours Post Office shops.

Meanwhile, it will also close seven in-store pharmacies, which employ 14 pharmacists and 48 other employees.

Ken Towle, Asda’s retail director, said: “The retail sector is evolving at a rapid pace and it is vital that we review the way we work, as well as changing customer preferences, to ensure we can keep up with Working as efficiently as possible so we can continue.” Invest and grow your business.
