Environment Canada has warned of freezing rain for the entire province, except for parts of the Fundy Coast where heavy rain is expected.
However, a prolonged spell of snow and freezing rain is forecast for much of the province on Monday.
The weather agency said there would be less rain on Tuesday morning, but “there is a risk of significant accumulation of snow in some areas before this changes.”
The warning said highways, roads and walkways would become icy and “extremely dangerous”.
“Be careful of branches or power lines that could break under the weight of the snow,” it read.

At one point on Monday morning, more than 11,000 NB Power customers were without power, most of them in the Moncton and Shediac areas.
Kent County and other areas along the Fund Coast and southeastern New Brunswick could receive up to 30 millimeters of rain before Monday evening.
Environment Canada warns that frozen ground has little ability to absorb precipitation, so drivers should be prepared for the conditions.
“If visibility decreases while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe distance,” the agency advised. “Be prepared for winter conditions at higher altitudes.”
