Talking about Bollywood’s ongoing lean patch at an event, Alia shared that it is a tough year and people should be a little kinder towards Hindi films.
“I think this is a tough year for Indian cinema, we should be a little kinder towards Hindi films,” he said in Express Adda. Meanwhile, South Indian films have received a lot of pan-India success, sparking a debate between Bollywood versus regional films. Good content will always do well but now we are just re-evaluating what kind of movies we are going to release in theaters or on OTT platforms and what is the habit of the common consumer. Apart from Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, films that have performed well at the box office are The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Jugjugg Jeeyo.
