Production on Alec Baldwin’s “Rust,” which was rocked by the shooting death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins, is set to resume this spring, producers said Tuesday.

In 2021, Hutchins was killed by a bullet fired from a gun that Baldwin was carrying. Baldwin is facing citizen action and criminal Accusation on him.

Matthew Hutchins, the widower of Halina Hutchins, will be involved as an executive producer on the film, along with the original producers. Bianca Kline, cinematographer of the Oscar-nominated “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” will take over as “Rust” cinematographer. Kline is donating her salary to a charity in Hutchins’ honor and says she will aim to fulfill the original vision.

Matthew Hutchins will also serve as executive producer of a new documentary on the life and work of his late wife.

The “Rust” production company hired new “security officers” to help oversee filming and said it would not allow weapons or ammunition of any kind on set.

“Rust” director Joel Souza, who was shot in the shoulder by the same bullet that killed Hutchins, will continue in his role, along with the original stunt coordinator, costume designer and other crew members.

Souza said, “Although bittersweet, I am grateful that a fantastic and dedicated new production team joining the former cast and crew is determined to finish what Halina and I started.”

The makers originally planned to resume filming after January settle a case along with Matthew Hutchins, which led to him becoming a producer on the film. Halina Hutchins’ mother, father and sister last week filed a separate civil lawsuit against Baldwin, in which Matthews is not directly involved.

Baldwin and the film’s screenwriter Hannah Gutierrez-Reid both face involuntary manslaughter charges filed by Santa Fe prosecutors. Prosecutors allege that Baldwin was “distracted” during required gun training and that Gutierrez-Reid knew he had not participated adequately. Recently, Baldwin’s attorneys filed to try and reduce penalty of his allegations.

The next hearing in the criminal case has been fixed for February 24.
