Airbus A380’s final flight test ends with heart-shaped airway, enthusiasts say goodbye to superjumbo

Before Airbus shipped its final model of the A380 aircraft to Emirates Airline, the aircraft’s pre-delivery test flight ended with a heart-shaped air trail across Germany. The flight was considered special as it marks the conclusion of Airbus’ A380 program which will be wrapped up after Emirates Airline takes delivery of the aircraft in December this year.

The Airbus A380 is nicknamed the “Superjumbo” due to its massive size that can seat between 500 and 850 passengers. However, despite its impressive design and ability to accommodate luxury amenities such as minibars and even spas, the aircraft model is being discontinued only 12 years after production began. The reason for this is not to be ordered. As of now, Emirates Airlines has the largest fleet of A380 aircraft.

“Nothing but love for the A380, the last superjumbo to join our fleet takes to the skies for one last test flight,” Emirates Airlines wrote as goodbye.

In response to Airbus’s tweet, many airplane enthusiasts have mourned the shutdown of the A380, considered the world’s largest passenger plane. One person tweeted, “So sad this is the final build”, while someone else observed, “Just wondering if the 747 is the queen of the skies, does that make the A380 king?”

Here’s how netizens reacted to it.
