KARACHI: The Sindh government on Sunday decided to withdraw the notification issued regarding the deadline for businesses as Eid ul Adha is around the corner.

According to a notification issued by the province’s home department, the ban will come into effect from July 11.

“On the eve of Eid ul Adha, the Government of Sindh is pleased to suspend the operation of notifications of this Department […] With regard to the imposition of restrictions on the closing hours of various shops, restaurants, marriage halls etc. in the territorial jurisdiction of Sindh province with immediate effect,” the notification read.

It mentioned that the decision to suspend the shutdown orders has been taken in the “interest of the people”.

Earlier in June, the Sindh government had directed the closure of all markets across the province at 9 pm to save electricity as the country was facing continuous power outages.

It was said that the measure would remain in effect until 16 July, however, along with Eid ul Adha, the provincial government decided to lift the ban temporarily.

A day earlier, Islamabad and Punjab also allowed markets to remain open till late night to facilitate the business community and people for Eid shopping.
