‘Agneepath’: Home Ministry reserves 10 per cent vacancies for ‘Agnivar’ in CAPFs and Assam Rifles

Amid violent protests across the country over the Centre’s “Agneepath” scheme for recruitment in the armed forces, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to reserve 10 per cent vacancies in the Central Armed Police. has done. Army (CAPF) and Assam Rifles for “Agnivar”.

In a series of tweets this morning, Shah said, “Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to reserve 10% vacancies for recruitment for Agniveers in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.”

The minister further said that the ministry “also decides to give relaxation of 3 years from the upper age limit prescribed to Agniveers for recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles”. He further added: “Further, for the first batch of Agniveer, age relaxation will be for 5 years over the prescribed upper age limit.”

The decision comes days after Shah announced that ‘Agnivar’ would be given priority for jobs in the CAPFs and Assam Rifles.

Describing the Agneepath scheme as a visionary decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah had said that the new recruitment scheme for the armed forces would provide a bright future to the youth.

Stating that the youth trained under ‘Agneepath’ would contribute more to the service and security of the nation, Shah had updated that detailed plans were being made for the recruitment of ‘Agnivar’ in the CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
