ADB will give a loan of $ 1.5 billion to India for the Kovid-19 vaccine. India News – Times of India – India Times English News

New Delhi: Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $1.5 billion loan to the Indian government to purchase COVID-19 vaccines, it said in a statement on Thursday.
ADB said the loan will fund at least 667 million vaccine doses for an estimated 317 million people, as well as co-financing an additional $500 million for vaccine purchases.
India aims to fully vaccinate about 945 million people aged 18 years and above, which is about 70% of its population.
ADB said the loan would be financed through its $9 billion Asia Pacific Vaccine Access Facility, which was launched in December 2020 to provide rapid and equitable vaccine-related assistance to Development Bank member countries.
India has delivered 1.19 billion doses of the vaccine so far – 82% of its 944 million adults received at least one dose, with 44% of adults receiving a second dose.
