When contacted, Director General (Prisons) Sandeep Goel confirmed that they have decided to install more mobile network jammers inside the jail ward.

Sources said that the jail administration has received several complaints from state police agencies that inmates are still making calls from inside the jail premises. “After conducting research, it was found that in some corners/places of the jail premises, the phone network is still connected and the prison inmates, after locating that particular location, are making calls and interacting with other prisoners. There are nine jails inside the Tihar complex, each with 8-10 wards, an official said. “Inside every jail, there is a high-security ward where dreaded gangsters and their accomplices are shifted.
