Absconding SDPI member arrested in Bengaluru riots case: NIA

National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Karnataka Police have arrested an absconding chargesheet accused in the Bengaluru riots case in a joint operation.

NIA officials said on Tuesday that the investigating agency arrested Tabrez (35), a resident of Old Bangalore Layout, on Monday.

A case was registered on August 12 last year at Devarajeevanhalli (DJ Halli) police station under various sections of the IPC, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and Prevention of Destruction and Damage to Property Act. “After conducting a thorough investigation, the NIA filed a chargesheet against 109 accused persons under various sections of the UA(P) Act, IPC and Karnataka Destruction and Damage to Property Act (KPDLP Act) before the NIA Special Court, Bengaluru on 05.02.2021,” the NIA said in a statement.

NIA said, “Tabrez is a member of Sagaipuram ward of SDPI, a political outfit of Popular Front of India (PFI), and DJ Halli was involved in conspiring to attack PS and instigated several others in WhatsApp group Was. .
