AAP: There are still big posts on the main faces of the transport mafia in Punjab

NS Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday accused the Punjab government of showing “special mercy” towards top officials, who were allegedly part of the transport mafia during the SAD-BJP Government, and asked why they are still holding positions in the State Transport Office.

AAP criticized Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and asked how the transport mafia could be eliminated by keeping these officers in the chains of command.

Releasing a document to the media, AAP Youth Wing State President Meet Hare said, Charanjit Singh Channi The government and especially Waring should explain to the public about the position of the Punjab State Road Safety Council (Lead Agency) and its Director General and make public all the documents on whose orders this particular post and office was created.

Asked whether the post has been approved by the Cabinet, Hare alleged that the post was not created for road safety but for the safety of illegal buses belonging to the Badal-Majithia family. He raised a question about an IAS officer who was appointed as DG after retirement.

The AAP leader further said that when the Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP government came to power in 2007, one of the first appointments was of this officer as the State Transport Commissioner (STC). “During the same period hundreds of lucrative routes were distributed to Badal and preferred private transporters at the expense of Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS and PRTC and thousands of permits were arbitrarily increased,” Hare alleged.

Hare also raised questions on the salary, allowances, vehicle, driver and other facilities being given to the Director General Punjab State Road Safety Council. He said that the mercy of the Channi government on the officer raises big questions.

When contacted regarding the allegations leveled against him, the officer denied it. “I have always been posted in irrelevant appointments in my career. An odd stint in the Transport Department does not make sense. And the appointment of DG Road Safety Council has nothing to do with the Transport Department. It is under the order of the Supreme Court. has been established,” he said.
