The delegation, led by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema, included MLAs Amarjit Singh Sandoa, Jai Singh Rodi alongwith leaders Jagtar Singh Sanghera and Malvinder Singh Kang.

Stating that the state government was in a minority, the AAP delegation urged the Governor to convene a special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, in which Captain Amarinder Singh was directed to prove his majority in the House. The leaders said that if the CM fails to prove his majority in the next seven days, the present government should be dissolved immediately.

Speaking to the media after meeting the Governor, Harpal Singh Cheema said that if the rebel Congressmen want to save Punjab, they “do not need to go to Dehradun or Delhi”, they can do so by visiting the Punjab Raj Bhavan and tender their resignation. can hand over. File a no-confidence motion against the governor and the chief minister in the assembly.

Cheema said that Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, MLA and Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had revolted against his own Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in the name of saving Punjab, should be punished. You should give your explanation. Stand up, the ones who ruined Punjab are with Captain Amarinder Singh or with Punjab and its people, as Harish Rawat has made it clear that Amarinder will continue to be the Chief Minister and the 2022 election will be fought under his leadership.

The AAP leader said that the rebel ministers and MLAs, who were part of the “mafia rule” for four-and-a-half years, have taken the right stand and accepted that the Captain government is a “useless and unjust government”; Which is “responsible for the poor state of Punjab and the mafia regime”, and has “misadvently failed to fulfill its election promises”.

Do the rebel ministers and MLAs accept the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh. If they accept Capt, then it is clear that they are only fighting for the chair,” Cheema said. He said that if the rebel ministers and MLAs do not show no-confidence against the state government, they will lose their last chance to remove the stain of joining the mafia regime.

Meanwhile, former Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and senior SAD (United) leader Bir Devinder Singh called the day-long session “a monumental legislative fraud”, which can be termed as “the biggest in Punjab’s post-independence parliamentary history”. .

He said, “The Punjab cabinet headed by Captain Amarinder Singh has committed indecency against the temple of democracy i.e. the assembly and the people of the state.

Bir Devinder questioned how the state cabinet could bypass discussion on all the important issues facing Punjab almost every day, guaranteeing a collective approach of the legislature, which is considered on the floor of the House.

“Who and where will discuss the appalling law and order situation in Punjab? Why the sufferings of farmers, who have been agitating and struggling to repeal anti-farmer agricultural laws for over a year, are not considered a valid issue to be debated on top priority as part of the agenda of the proposed session Is. Assembly,” he said.

The former deputy speaker said that if the chief minister actually enjoys an absolute majority of legislators, as is done through “dinner diplomacy”, then why is he shying away from discussing issues on the floor of the House.

“If he can attend a dinner hosted by one of his close courtiers and show off his sycophants among a hundred crowd then why is he holding a cabinet meeting through video conferencing? If school children can be made to sit together in class rooms in Punjab during the pandemic, why can’t their ministers sit in a cabinet meeting,” he asked.
