Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory Thursday night for the Barrie, Midland and Orillia regions of southern Ontario.

Advisories are also in effect for Collingwood, Hillsdale, Coldwater, Orr Lake, Lagoon City and Washago.

Environment Canada is warning about snow, sometimes accompanied by snow pellets or frozen drizzle.

The national weather agency said up to 5 to 10 centimeters of snow and ice pellets could accumulate in the area.

Snowfall is expected to start from Thursday evening and reduce to light showers by Friday morning.

The weather agency said that in areas that have frequent periods of snow pellets, the total accumulation could be less.

Residents are being advised to adjust driving to the changing road conditions and slow down in slippery conditions.
