It’s been a sit-and-wait game for a Saskatoon family because their luggage is missing after a trip to Mexico for Christmas.
“I was so looking forward to a vacation, but that vacation was in no way a vacation I was prepared for,” said passenger Michelle Linklater.

She began her journey on 21 December when she flew into Calgary, where she was told that her luggage would follow her to Cancun.
It never made it there.
“I didn’t have carry-on luggage and neither did my daughter, so we didn’t have essentials,” Linklater explained.
“You hear people say, ‘You should take it,’ but I was like, ‘It’s just a matter of a day or two’ … Then when we landed in Cancun, that’s when they said you should You won’t get your stuff.”
After paying for clothes, toothbrushes, luggage for the journey back and other things, she tried to enjoy her journey. And for her daughter, things changed.

“My daughter actually got her stuff on December 25, so it was a Christmas miracle in a way,” she said.
For Linklater though, it’s a different story.
After attempting to search through several luggage storage rooms in Cancun, Calgary and Saskatoon in hopes of finding the bright green suitcase, she never found it.
But WestJet did.
“I got home on December 31st and that’s when I got the first email saying we found your stuff,” Linklater said. “Your luggage was located in Mexico on December 23rd.”
Yet even after more than a week has passed, he is yet to receive his luggage and there is no update on arrival.
In a statement to Global News, WestJet said: “Following the large backlog of cancellations during the holidays, our baggage teams across our network continue to sort through baggage deliveries, but they are working to move and deliver them.” Working round the clock.to our guest as soon as possible.
“We sincerely apologize for the impact this has had on guests and appreciate their patience as we work to get their luggage up to speed.”
And while WestJet is working on getting hundreds of customers back luggage, it doesn’t make it any easier for Linklater and she doesn’t expect to receive her luggage at all.
“There’s just too much stuff they’re dealing with,” she said. “I’m not hopeful anymore.”
