Consumer price inflation rose 6.8% without seasonal adjustments in the 12 months ended November, Bureau of Labor Statistics Reported on Friday.
Excluding food and energy, whose prices are more volatile, inflation rose 4.9% over the same period – the highest level since June 1991.

Significant price increases were observed across several categories. Gas prices rose 58.1% in the year ending November, the biggest jump since April 1980.
Price indices tracking food and energy climbed to at least a 13-year high, rising 6.1% and 33.3% over the 12-month period.
Meanwhile, groceries are up 6.4% in the same period, the biggest increase since December 2008. Food prices in restaurants increased by 5.8%, the largest increase since January 1982.
