Hello everyone, and welcome to The Guardian’s 2022 BAFTA Film Awards liveblog. most of the years, Baftas occupy an important place in the annual awards season calendar; A slot where the Golden Globes frontrunner can cement his position, as well as fuel his excitement for the Oscars.
But this is not most of the year. The Golden Globes were ripped off and forced from our screens and, after a show’s mess last year—after a painful emotion-comedy failure held in a train station—no one on earth cares about the Oscars.
And to make matters worse, tonight’s BAFTAs also clash with the Critics’ Choice Awards. Does this mean that no one will show up? Put it this way, given the option of attending a nice hot awards show held down the street from where you live, or a notoriously cold awards show tucked away the entire continent, you’ll probably be living in LA.
But let’s be positive here! May be everything is fine. Tonight’s show may not be full of movies loved by the masses, but if you try hard enough there can be all kinds of interesting micro-sized battles. after Love, drive my car And Ali and Ava All are impossibly strong, and probably what it takes to shove some of the bigger contenders into the dirt. It’s worth seeing, isn’t it? The ceremony starts in half an hour, so I guess we’ll see then.
