With Tamil Nadu facing a severe shortage of brides, Tamil Nadu Brahmin Association president N Narayanan said over 40,000 singles in the age group of 30 to 40 are finding it difficult to get brides as there is a severe shortage of girls in the community.

Quoting rough estimates, the community president said, “Almost, if they are 10 boys in the community in the marriageable age group, then only six girls are available.”

With more than 40,000 Brahmin men in the 30-40 age group finding it difficult to find brides in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Brahmin Association (TBA) has launched a campaign to find brides for bachelors in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

A senior TBA member said in their monthly magazine that this situation has persisted for the past 10 years.
