49ers’ Trent Williams ejected after slamming Eagles player in scuffle, benches clear in response

san francisco 49ers All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams lost his temper during a scuffle during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, slamming a Philadelphia Eagles player that led to his ejection late in the fourth quarter.

The scuffle began when 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel and Eagles safety K’Von Wallace held each other’s face masks in their hands after a play. As they jawed back and forth, neither was letting go, leading to more players from each side trying to break things up.

Williams was fed up with Wallace and grabbed him from behind, threw him to the ground, and the scuffle nearly turned into something worse.

Both the Eagles and 49ers sidelines ran onto the field, the head referees yelling at them to return over the Lincoln Financial Field sound system.

It was a disappointing game for San Francisco as they were demolished 31–7 by Philadelphia to again be eliminated from the Super Bowl.

49ers’ Brock Purdy forced to return to NFC Championship after leaving with elbow injury

Much of the frustration centered around the offense’s struggles after starting quarterback Brock Purdy was benched due to an elbow injury. Then, his replacement, backup Josh Johnson, suffered an injury and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

This forced Purdy to move back under center, but because of his injury, he was unable to pass downfield, making the 49ers’ offense one-dimensional.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan did his best to be creative, but Eagles They had to sniff every opportunity to do so and as a result the 49ers sent their defense down the field quickly.

Eagles beat 49ers to win NFC Championship, advance to Super Bowl

The lack of offense and seeing how the game was trending led to the moment Williams lost his temper.

The Eagles head to the Super Bowl looking to capture the franchise’s first Vince Lombardi Trophy for the first time since their victory over the New England Patriots in 2018.
