new york giants Rookie linebacker Kevon Thibodaux took aim at the San Francisco 49ers on social media amid their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, prompting a Niners legend to fire back.
The Giants were recently ousted from the playoffs with a 38–7 loss to Eagles in the Divisional Round, but despite this, Thibodeau was convinced that New York could be a better opponent than San Francisco.
“The way this game looks, we could be better than the 49ers,” he wrote in a tweet.
The tweet seemed to have found its way to Niners legend Joe Staley, who did not hold back.
,[You’re] A flash player who gets bigger than the average tackle. Don’t let the New York media influence you too much.”
There was rapid back and forth between the two.

Staley responded to the snub: “Enough for [you] to answer. congrats on your 4 sacks this year [though], that’s huge. Incredible numbers.”
However, Thibodaux continued to tweet, not directly at Staley.

Lost to the Eagles by a smaller margin than the San Francisco Giants and was down to their fourth-string quarterback before switching back Rookie QB Brock Purdy, He suffered an injury to his throwing arm early in the first half.
“Great season my 49ers,” Staley said in a tweet. “It’s so hard to win when you’re on your 4th QB. The Niners will smoke every other team [the] Except in the NFC that they face tonight. Congratulations to the Eagles.”
