3 suspects arrested in connection with stolen vehicle in Ajax: Police – Durham | globalnews.ca

A case has been registered against three people in connection with the investigation of the stolen vehicle ajaxOnt., police say.

Durham Regional Police Officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle at a plaza in the Kingston Road and Church Street South area at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said officers have confirmed that an Acura SUV was taken during a carjacking on Exeter Road on 19 December.

“Police stopped the vehicle to prevent it from fleeing and three people were arrested without incident,” officials said in a press release. “Police seized a loaded handgun inside the vehicle.”

According to police, Tyreek Daly, 25, of Whitby, Andre Atherton, 18, of Ajax and Tristan James, 18, of Ajax, have been charged with a combined 28 offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of property. More than $5,000 obtained by crime and having a loaded prohibited firearm.

Police said all were held for bail hearings.
