3 arrested for murder of law student in UP’s Meerut

Police on Sunday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old student whose body was recently recovered from a drain.

Sant Sharan Singh, SHO, Medical College Police Station said that Yash Rastogi, a first year LLB student, had gone missing on June 26 and his body was recovered from a drain near Pilokhari police post late Saturday night.

Singh said the three accused have been identified as Sonu alias Salman, Chavez and Alijan and they are being questioned.

Superintendent of Police (city) Vineet Bhatnagar said the viscera has been sent for investigation, the cause of death will be known after the report comes.

Police said that after Rastogi went missing on June 26, his family members had lodged a missing report.

Police said after examining footage from CCTV cameras, Rastogi’s location was found at Chavez’s factory in Fatehullapur.

Police said that when Chavez was questioned, he also revealed the names of the other two accused who were arrested.

Police said Rastogi had an altercation with Chavez, who along with his friends Salman and Alizaan killed him, put his body in a sack and dumped it in a drain.
