Patiala, January 3
Two people in a car were killed while others are missing after a vehicle fell into the Bhakra canal near Pasiana police station.
The deceased have been identified as Neelam Rani and Shikha Garg.
Police said that a search operation is on to trace the others.
Pasiana SHO Ankurdeep Singh said that he had received the information on Sunday night.
After this divers were called for the rescue operation.
However, the operation could not be carried out during the night due to bad weather.
“In the morning, we resumed the operation and pulled out the Swift car. Two bodies, both women, have been recovered from the car.”
The SHO said that the deceased were residents of Rampura Phool in Bathinda district.
He said that they are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The occupants of the car were on their way to their hometown after offering prayers at the Mansa Devi temple in Haryana’s Panchkula district.
